Why the detail matters

Three things that decide whether it still looks right in ten years.

Material choice, and what it costs you later.

The cheapest version of every product in this trade exists, and it is usually the same shape as the good one. The difference shows up in year three. Thin extruded PVC louvres bow in a north-facing Cardinia Lakes window once a summer of 35 degree afternoons has worked on them. Light-gauge roller tubes deflect across a wide opening and the fabric starts to telescope to one side. Untreated timber in a Pakenham Upper or Emerald bathroom, where the air is genuinely damp for months, will lift its paint at the joints.

We match the material to the room and the aspect rather than to a single price point: PVC where there is moisture, basswood where the look and the colour match matter, aluminium anywhere weather actually lands on it. That is a slower conversation at the measure and a much cheaper one in five years.

Measuring and fitting, which is most of the finish.

A shutter is a piece of joinery. It is only as good as the reveal it sits in, and reveals are rarely square. Established homes in central Pakenham and Berwick Village move over decades. New estate homes move too, in their first couple of years, as the slab and frame settle. We measure every opening at three heights and three widths, record the out-of-square, and order frames that absorb it instead of pretending it does not exist.

That is why we will not quote from your own measurements or from a plan. The visible signs of a job measured badly are always the same: uneven light gaps down one stile, a top rail that runs off level against the cornice, and panels that catch as they close. None of it is fixable after the fact without remaking the panel.

Motorisation, done as an installation rather than an accessory.

Motors are now the default on tall, wide or hard-to-reach windows, and they are the safest option in any room a child uses. Done well, every blind in a room drops to the same height at the same speed, the limits are set precisely to the sill, the hub is somewhere with actual signal, and the app is grouped by room with names that make sense to whoever lives there.

Done badly, you get five blinds that stop at five different heights, a hub in a media cabinet that drops out, and an app nobody in the house can use. We commission the system on the day, set every limit, group the channels, and walk you through it before we leave. Charging, battery life and what happens in a power cut are all covered on the motorised blinds page.

How it runs

From first measure to commissioned install, 4 stages.

1

In-home measure

We bring louvre, timber and fabric samples to your house so you judge colour in your own light. Every opening measured at three points, aspect and use noted room by room.

2

Itemised written quote

Line by line, per window, with the material and control type named. Usually within 2 business days. No lump sum, no vague allowances, no pressure to sign on the night.

3

Built to your sizes

Roller and roman blinds run 2 to 3 weeks. Shutters run 6 to 10 weeks because each frame and panel is made for one opening. You get a real date, and a call if it moves.

4

Install and commission

Fitted square, packers where the reveal needs them, silicone and trims finished neatly. Motors limited and grouped, app set up, child-safety devices fitted and checked, site left clean.
